Day 01: Fly Delhi – Leh; 3505 meters / 11567 feet. Take the morning Trans-Himalayan flight from New Delhi to Leh. After 1 hour and 15 minutes arrive at Leh’s Kushok Bakula Rinpochi Airport. Take the first whiff of this spectacular mountain city as you step out into 10000 feet plus terrain.Transfer to hotel and full day rest for acclimatization. In the evening, stroll through Leh Bazaar and pick up curios. Overnight in hotel at Leh.	An overview of Leh Town	Leh, a historic town that served as the royal capital of the Old Kingdom, is dominated by the nine-storey Leh palace built by King Singge Namgyal in the 17th century in the grand tradition of Tibetan architecture, which is said to have inspired the famous Potala in Lhasa built about half a century later. It rises from the edge of the town overlooking Leh. However, it is now dilapidated and deserted.
Day 02: Discover the culture and history of Ladakh. Full day sightseeing of Leh and around - its palaces, gompas, monasteries and museums. Sightseeing to Thiksey, Shey, Hemis, Stok, Matho, Stakna in the first half. After lunch explore Singge Palace, Shanti Stupa, Skara. Overnight in hotel at Leh.	Hemis Gompa, Ladakh	Thiksey Gompa: 17 kms south-east of Leh, Thiksey gompa was built some 600 years ago and consists of 12 levels ascending a hillside. The gompa contains 10 temples; below the monastery itself are chapels and "houses" stretching down the hillside. A large Buddha statue, 15 meters tall was constructed in 1970 to commemorate a visit to Thiksey by the Dalai Lama.
Day 03: Drive north of Leh to Nubra Valley, 120 kms one way (6 hours). Exciting experience at Khardung La, 39 kms from Leh. (Mountain Pass at 5578 m / 18300 ft.)Here is supposed to be the highest motorable road in the world. In Nubra Valley, visit Diskit, Hunder villages and the white sand dunes and take a short camel safari on the double humped Bactrian Camels. Overnight in deluxe camps at Nubra Valley.	Nubra Valley and its white sand dunes	The name Nubra Valley is applied to the region comprising the valley of the river Nubra and that of the Shayok, both above and below their confluence. The route north of Leh crosses over Khardung-la. From the top, one can see all the way south over the Indus valley to the seemingly endless peaks and ridges of the Zanskar range, and north to the giants of the Saser massif.
Day 04: In the morning explore Samtenling Monastery, Sumur village, Panamik Thermal Springs and then drive back to Leh, passing Khardung La once again. Overnight in hotel at Leh.	Pangong Lake - 145 kms from Leh, is situated at an altitude of 14,100 ft, over 130 kms (80 miles) long - only one-third of it lying in India.	Panamik, the last village on this circuit, is a sleepy village. On the mountainside, hot water bubbles out of the earth in thermal springs, reputed to have therapeutic qualities.
Day 05: Drive east of Leh via Chang-la Mountain Pass (18,000 ft / 5,475 m) to Pangong Lake, (4267m / 14000 ft.), 145 kms / 6-7 hours one way. Mesmerizing vistas with the changing hues of the waters of the lovely lake. Overnight at deluxe camps near Pangong.		Pangong Lake, is 6 to 7 kms (4.5 miles) at its widest point, and over 130 kms (80 miles) long. It presents a spectacular view of the mountains, their reflections shimmering in the ever-changing blues and greens of the lake’s brackish waters.
Day 06: Drive back to Leh via Stok. Overnight in hotel at Leh or Stok.		Alchi (3500 m / 11500 feet) is a small village in the Indus Valley, 67 kms west of Leh. Abandoned centuries ago the gompa or monastery is known as Chos-kor, or religious enclave and comprises of five temples. Its murals, dating from the 11th century, pre-date the Tibetan style of painting seen in all the other gompas of the region. Unlike other monasteries, Alchi is at ground level and is nestled in the shade of a garden.
Day 07: Drive east of Leh to Alchi (3300 m / 10000 ft)., Ulleytokpo 68 kms one way from Leh. After breakfast, drive along the Indus river past Spituk and Hall of Fame meeting the sangam of Zanskar and Indus rivers near Nimu and further on to Magnetic Hill and then to Alchi and Ulleytokpo. After lunch explore, Ridzong, Likir and Basgo. Overnight in deluxe camps at Uleytokpo.	Alchi - a small village in the Indus Valley, 67 kms west of Leh.
Day 08: Drive upto the Lamayuru lunar landscapes, 55 kms. Visit the monastery (the oldest in Ladakh) and then drive back to Leh, 125 kms. Overnight in hotel at Leh.	The lunar landscape at Lamayuru.	Lamayuru Monastery is believed to have been a sacred site for the pre-Buddhist religion known as *Bon*. The main image is a large Vairocana (the Teaching Buddha) seated on a lion throne with a garuda (mythical bird) and sea monsters surrounding his head. Lamayuru is 125 kms west of Leh at an altitude of 3510 m / 11600 feet.
Day 09: Check out and board morning flight to New Delhi feeling blessed for the stolen moments spent in Ladakh.	The lunar landscape at Lamayuru.
